Freaks and Geeks

A few months back I spent a week or so enjoying this show. I never caught it really when it was running during it's prime time era, but I had always heard good things about it. I guess that was one of my periods where I wasn't really watching much TV. I was born in the early 70s...and as a survivor of the 80s, what I consider to be my first real decade... )I was of age to know what was going on, and take part in the pop culture etc...) I've got to say it captured the era much better than any television comedy from the 80s themselves. The characters resonate with me, and remind me of former classmates, and myself as well. The music on the show is great, and all of it is relevant to the times the series was portraying. I plan to go into more detail on this later, but I wanted to jot some stuff down on this brilliant series to help remind me me later... At any rate, if you haven't seen it, you should... If you have, then you know what I am talking about.

  1. Yes, very good show. Wish it was more than one season, though, but I guess Undeclared kinda made up for that.

  2. I thought Undeclared was a great show too, sadly it didn't stick around any longer than one season either.

  3. My favorite scene from F&G was where the one dude was drumming, with headphones on playing Rush. All you could hear was Rush and see him going crazy on the drum kit, but then it cut out the music and you heard how terribly he was playing. As a high school hack drummer in a crappy band, I knew just how that felt.

  5. @ Hatchet: I know exactly what you mean B. I knew 100 drummers who did the exact same thing, and most of them sounded about as good. I laughed my ass off the first time I saw it. Actually I know a dude who reminds me almost exactly of Nick, he's a drummer too, only he is good at it, he doesn't look like him, but he acts just like him, at least when he is in a jolly mood.

@ Advocate, it's well worth your time Luke, both are decent shows. F&G is superior though.
